Rachel Narozniak is a music journalist based in Los Angeles

In 2016, a fateful DM from a Crust Nation affiliate—“hey, you should come write for us”—provided the serendipitous push that propelled Rachel into the dance/electronic music editorial space. She’d pen more than 500 articles for the music events promotion company’s website during her time there while picking up bylines on Club Glow/Echostage’s website. In 2017, Rachel, who holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in English from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and The George Washington University, respectively, was hired as a Contributing Writer at Dancing Astronaut (DA).

Rachel was a key leader in DA’s editorial content strategy and execution, and in her leadership at the platform, sought to amplify Dancing Astronaut’s original long-form content, including through her conceptualization and oversight of “Supernovas,” an interview-driven series dedicated to spotlighting singer-songwriters in the dance/electronic space, Supernovas contributed to the still ongoing conversation about the dance/electronic industry’s perception of the singer-songwriter’s role in the making of the records we know—and the records we, as a scene, will collectively come to know.

Prior to launching Supernovas in January 2021, Rachel single-handedly developed and deployed Dancing Astronaut’s ORBIT: AMPLIFY series. The weekly playlist initiative tasked artists with creating 20-track playlists containing songs from Black artists and other artists of color who inspired the curating artist. Intended to pay homage to the Black artists and other creatives of color without whom dance/electronic music would not be what it is today, the ORBIT: AMPLIFY series saw submissions from Loud Luxury, Bob Moses, Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire, Kyle Kinch, Brando, and more.

After serving as the outlet’s Managing Editor and later, its Editor-in-Chief, Rachel stepped down from her leadership position at Dancing Astronaut to begin her career as an independent music journalist. She remains a Senior Writer at DA, where has more than 2,800 news stories, track posts, album/event/product reviews, interviews, Q&As, and other long-form features to her byline.

Although Rachel maintains an active presence at Dancing Astronaut, she also works as an independent journalist. She has published her work on various outlets, including Variety, Billboard, Beatportal, GRAMMY.com, MusicTech, and Los Angeles Magazine. Rachel’s main beat is dance/electronic music, but she also specializes in pop music and relishes the opportunity to write about other musical genres beyond dance/electronic and pop. A collection of her pieces across editorial outlets appears below to acquaint you with her voice and work.
